The last few months have been somewhat above average and Skydive GB has been a hive of activity. Over the past two months we have completed a phenomenal amount of tandem skydives in comparison to previous years. We have seen a lot of progression amongst the fun jumpers and have trialled opening for the ‘Jump Yorkshire’ week at the end of August. This proved a success and we will be doing this again in the future; hopefully on a bigger scale. The lovely folk at Hibaldstow very kindly lent us their Caravan and pilot for one of the days, with it came a lot of fun jumpers who did exactly that – had fun. It was fantastic to see a fourteen way, tracking jumps, speed stars and a two aircraft operation. Despite the increased volume of canopies flying over the airfield, it proved to be a safe and happy day.

Bill Rule set up his almighty accuracy pad, which is apparently the biggest in Europe at 7 metres. It was awesome to see both Bill and Brian Shaw doing accuracy and has fuelled the fire in a few people to give it a go. Bill is keeping the accuracy equipment at Skydive GB and is keen to encourage others to learn, so if you fancy a go please get in touch.

George McGuinness and Dave McMinn came over to teach some of our regulars the art of Canopy Formation, which they totally enjoyed. This is another discipline that we intend to do more of at Skydive GB if we can gain enough interest to bring a coach in.

Jamie Heselden and Michael Butterfield have completed their Category System course and are now qualified skydivers. This deserves a mention as they are two of the funniest people we have ever taught. Well done guys, every jump has been a giggle.

Louise Aveyard and David Ruston have both recently passed their CSBI on a course at Headcorn and must be congratulated. Both worked really hard on the learning process and their motivation and drive paid off. The next six months will be a steep learning curve prior to completing the CSI.

We are very sad to say goodbye to Colin Stevenson, who has returned to Ireland for the rest of the year. Colin is a highly valued member of our staff team and his cheery face and Irish banter will be missed by everyone. Hopefully, he will be back with us in 2020.
