Having had a great September with lots of jumping this all ground to a halt in October when the rain started in earnest giving us a wet runway for many days. It has been very frustrating especially when the weather is glorious, but we cannot get off the ground.
However, it is not all doom and gloom as we have still managed a fair bit of jumping and it was good to welcome Chris Lynch, after his injury, back into the air and most notably with his daughter Buddi who having completed a tandem is now looking forward to starting her AFF.
It is with great sadness that our stalwart member of staff Clem Quinn finally retired at the end of September. He will be sorely missed by everyone, especially Jane and Pete. He takes with him a wealth of experience during his 40-year jumping career and his 11,000 + tandems. We had a party in Wings to send him on his way which was very well attended a tribute to his popularity. We do hope that he continues to pop in from time to time.
Alex Matei is hoping to go to Deland for the PD sponsored bullseye competition having won the under 500 jumps category at Netheravon earlier in the year. All he needs now is a visa so well-done Alex and good luck. Steve Joyce (it wouldn’t be club news without him getting a mention) came third in the same competition.
Kasia has finally mastered packing after many hours spent practising. All she needs to do now is jump it to see if it works!
Jane is not only really current on flying the Caravan but has now gained her TD1 (tractor driving) and is cleared to reverse the aircraft back in the hangar.
