The Lesson Settings tab in LearnDash gives you control over how learners engage with each lesson in your course. These settings help you tailor the learning experience, ensuring it aligns with your goals and the needs of your audience. Here’s an overview of each option and how to use it effectively.
1. Lesson Materials
The Lesson Materials setting allows you to add supplemental resources to enhance the learning experience:
- What You Can Include:
- External links to useful websites or additional reading materials.
- Media files, such as PDFs, videos, or audio recordings.
- How It’s Used:
- These materials are displayed alongside the lesson content, giving learners easy access to extra resources without leaving the course.
2. Video Progression
Enable Video Progression to require learners to watch a video in full before moving on:
- Purpose:
- Ensures learners engage fully with key content, such as instructional videos or demonstrations.
- How It Works:
- Learners cannot mark the lesson as complete or proceed to the next step until the video is watched in its entirety.
3. Assignment Uploads
Allow learners to submit assignments for a lesson:
- Purpose:
- Ideal for gathering work that reflects comprehension or applies the concepts taught in the lesson.
- How It Works:
- Learners upload their files directly within the lesson interface.
- Instructors can review submissions, provide feedback, and mark assignments as complete.
4. Lesson Timer
Use the Lesson Timer to set a minimum amount of time learners must spend on a lesson before marking it as complete:
- Purpose:
- Encourages learners to spend sufficient time engaging with the material.
- How It Works:
- The timer begins when the lesson is opened.
- The “Complete” button becomes active only after the designated time has passed.
5. Sample Lesson
The Sample Lesson feature allows prospective learners to preview course content without enrolling:
- Purpose:
- Great for marketing your course by giving learners a glimpse of the material before committing.
- How It Works:
- Enable this option for select lessons to make them publicly accessible.
6. Lesson Release Schedule (Drip Content)
Control when lessons become available to learners using the Lesson Release Schedule:
- Purpose:
- Allows you to release content gradually, keeping learners on a structured timeline.
- How It Works:
- Set lessons to unlock:
- Immediately: Learners can access lessons as soon as they enroll.
- Days After Enrollment: Specify a time delay (e.g., 7 days after enrollment).
- Specific Date: Choose a fixed date for lesson availability.
- Set lessons to unlock:
