Instructors and coaches are at the heart of British Skydiving. They shape not only the skills of our members but also their confidence, enjoyment and long-term engagement with the sport. Every jump, briefing and debrief is an opportunity to inspire, teach, and build a culture of safety and excellence.
Our instructors and coaches are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, honesty, integrity and competence. Their actions reflect directly on the safety, reputation and spirit of skydiving in the UK.
This Code of Conduct sets out what good instructing and coaching practice looks like. It’s founded on four core principles:
Instructors and coaches must respect and champion the rights of every individual to participate in skydiving. They should foster an inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
Professional relationships are built on openness, honesty, mutual trust and respect. Instructors and coaches should communicate clearly, provide constructive feedback, and act with care and integrity in all interactions.
As role models within the sport, instructors and coaches must maintain high standards of personal behaviour and conduct. This includes showing respect to others, avoiding discriminatory or inappropriate language, and always projecting a professional image.
Instructors and coaches must maintain their competence through qualifications, continuous training, and adherence to British Skydiving’s operational standards. They are responsible for ensuring safe, progressive learning environments that help every student reach their full potential.
