The Course Creation Wizard in LearnDash makes it simple to quickly create and publish courses by leveraging video playlists from YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. This powerful tool automates much of the course setup process, saving you time and effort. Follow this step-by-step guide to create a course from a video playlist.

1. Accessing the Course Creation Wizard

  1. Navigate to your WordPress dashboard and go to LearnDash LMS > Courses.
  2. In the Courses section, click on the “Create from Video Playlist” button in the top-right corner of the screen.

2. Adding Your Video Playlist

  1. Copy the Playlist URL:
    • Open your desired video playlist on YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia.
    • Copy the playlist’s URL from your browser.
  2. Paste the URL into LearnDash:
    • In the Course Creation Wizard, paste the URL into the provided field.
    • Click “Load Data” to retrieve the playlist details.

3. Automatic Course Creation

The Course Creation Wizard will automatically generate the following:

  • Course Title: The playlist name will become the course title (e.g., “Basic Spanish 1”).
  • Lessons: Each video in the playlist will be imported as a separate lesson. The video titles will become the lesson titles.
  • Descriptions: The video descriptions will populate the corresponding lesson descriptions.
  • Video Embedding: Each lesson will include the embedded video.

You’ll see a confirmation screen outlining the course details, including the total number of lessons and the imported titles.

4. Setting Course Options

  1. Course Access Settings:
    • Set how learners will access the course (e.g., open access, paid access, or via group enrollment).
    • You can adjust these settings later if needed.
  2. Course Progression:
    • Choose between Linear Progression (requiring learners to complete lessons in sequence) or Free Form Progression (allowing learners to access lessons in any order).

Once your options are set, click “Create Course” to finalize the setup.

5. Reviewing and Customising Your Course

After the course is created, you’ll be redirected to the Courses page, where your new course will appear.

  • Editing the Course:
    • Click on Edit to update the course title, description, or other details imported from the playlist.
  • Customising the Structure:
    • Go to the Builder tab to rearrange lessons, add sections, or remove unwanted content.
    • For example, you can group related lessons into sections or modify lesson titles to better fit your course structure.

6. Finalising Your Course

  1. Once you’re satisfied with the course structure and settings, click Update to save your changes.
  2. Preview the course to ensure everything is displayed correctly.
  3. Publish the course to make it accessible to your learners.

The Course Creation Wizard streamlines the process of building courses from video playlists, making it an ideal tool for creating content-rich courses efficiently. With just a few clicks, you can transform a video playlist into a fully functional LearnDash course, ready for learners to engage and benefit from.
