Following government advice to avoid gatherings, all non-essential travel and mindful of our social responsibility, British Skydiving has postponed all its events including competitions, courses, physical meetings and skills coaching roadshows for the time being. We have scheduled a formal review of the position on Monday 4 May.
The postponements include the opening meet of the UKSL (2-3 May, Netheravon), the 2 Accuracy Grand Prix events (16-17 May at Cark and 30-31 May at Headcorn) and the FS, Wingsuiting, Accuracy and Speed Skills Coaching Roadshows (18-19 April – Peterlee, 2-3 May – Headcorn, 9-10 May – Headcorn, 16-17 May – Hibaldstow, 16-17 May – Langar and 30-31 May Hibaldstow).
The affected instructor courses are the Tandem, AFF, Pre-Adv and Observers at Hibaldstow (20-24 April), CSBI, AFFBI, TBI and Advanced at Strathallan (04-08 May) and the CSI course at Strathallan (11-15 May). The Safety and Technical Committee (STC) and Riggers meetings (2 April) are also postponed along with the Judges Training Seminar (28-29 March).
As the sport’s governing body we have a responsibility to consider the impact that skydiving and our operations have on the wider community and we are mindful of the extra medical resources that could be placed on our already stretched medical services. This decision has therefore not been taken lightly and we are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. However, we need to follow government advice, as we take the health, safety and wellbeing of our members, competitors, DZOs, their families and all associated with our sport extremely seriously.
As government advice and measures to control the spread of the coronavirus epidemic are developing by the day, we will review the ongoing situation on a regular basis. We will be working with the DZOs in the coming weeks to seek alternative dates where possible. We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and continued support in these unsettling times. Please continue to check the British Skydiving website and our social media channels for updates.
British Skydiving HQ will continue to operate but will be closed to visitors.
