2021 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Association. Formed in 1961 from a small house as the British Parachute Association, we have grown from a handful of members to an average of around 5500 dedicated skydivers and 10 full-time staff. The first chair of the Association was Mike Reilly who held the seat for 2 years. Since then, we have seen a further 14 chairs, 17 vice-chairs, 7 treasurers and hundreds of committee members and volunteers walk through various doors including our current HQ.
In those 60 years, the association and its members have helped make the sport safer, more accessible, provided hundreds of athletes with opportunities to represent Team GB at events around the world and many of our members have taken part in numerous European and World records. We’ll also be sharing more details of our rich history, our member’s achievements and memorable stories throughout the year on social media and in the Mag.
In 2019 and as part of our strategic plan we rebranded to British Skydiving. We are marking this special year with a logo that brings together the new branding and our heritage. You’ll all be pleased to hear that we are also planning an event to commemorate our anniversary, covid allowing, and we’ll be releasing details soon of how you can get involved and celebrate with us.
