British Skydiving is pleased to launch the brand-new Code of Conduct for members, which exists to protect all involved in our sport and outline the sporting, moral and ethical principles that are expected.
The new Code Form 358), which replaces the Code of Practice for Instructors and Coaches (Form 288), and the Code of Conduct for Volunteers (Form 303i), has been approved by the British Skydiving board prior to launch.
The document sets out the philosophy and expected levels of behaviour for everyone involved in sport parachuting and applies to everyone from club to international level.
The importance of the new Code of Conduct cannot be overstated, and British Skydiving encourages all PTOs to have a copy on display or available onsite.
Paul Smith, Safeguarding & Compliance Manager at British Skydiving, spearheaded the development of the new Code of Conduct and is looking forward to seeing the benefits of the project.
“The new Code of Conduct has been designed to give the whole membership clear guidance and ensure that we are keeping our sport safe for all that are involved.
“It is our expectation that the new Code of Conduct will help everyone understand their individual roles in facilitating British Skydiving activities.
“We look forward to seeing the benefits of this extensive project moving forward into the new season and beyond.”
Head of Safety, Training & Competitions, Jeff Montgomery added, “I am very pleased to see the launch of the Code of Conduct for the benefit and support of all our members.
“Reflecting and documenting the core values of discipline and respect that we hold dear in our sport, to the benefit of our members & volunteers, is something that I am very proud to see and look forward to seeing the positive impact of for many years to come.”
British Skydiving CEO, Rob Gibson, underlined the importance of the new Code to the future of the sport of skydiving.
“I am very happy with the launch of the new Code of Conduct.
“Our reputation and success as a sport will be defined by the commitment and adherence to the core values and principles expressed in this Code.
“It is up to us all to not only comply with the Code and Rules that govern our sport, but also to set standards of ethical conduct that will generate respect and inspire the skydiving community.”
