Board of Directors Nominations Update!

British Skydiving is pleased to introduce three new Directors; Richard Lockwood who has been selected as the Association’s new Independent Non-Executive Director and will be put forward at the AGM for appointment by the membership, and British Skydiving members Karl Kojro and Dr Theodoros Koutroukides who stepped forward for the Non-Executive Director roles through the nominations process. As the only two candidates at the close of nominations, Karl and Theo will be taking up seats on the Board.

We are excited to have Richard joining us as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He is currently the CFO at NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) and has over 30 years experience across various sectors in the finance industry. Richard also has an extensive commercial and negotiation background combined with strong technical financial and regulatory expertise, and he is a diversity and inclusion lead who believes everyone should be able to be their true self and realise their potential at work and in sport.

Karl is currently a Non-Executive Director with British Skydiving, having been recruited to fill our casual vacancy earlier this year. Karl is keen to continue working with the organisation in this capacity and brings with him high-impact commercial leadership and skills in optimising business performance at pace and scale. He is also a collaborative leader who has already been an invaluable member of the Board.

Theo is new to the Non-Executive Director role with British Skydiving. He is a biotech scientist turned entrepreneur and holds a doctorate in neuropsychiatric disorders from Cambridge University. As a former pro-athlete-turned-entrepreneur with 25+ years of international, multi-disciplinary and visionary leadership through complex and diverse cultures, Theo will bring diverse thinking and a toolkit in readiness to the role.

With four Non-Executive Director seats to fill and only two nominations put forward, the Board will be looking to fill the two remaining vacancies over the coming months to ensure there is a full complement of Directors across 2024. So, if you are interested in becoming a Director but didn’t step forward for the recent nominations, keep your eyes open for posts over the coming months.
